Close, consolidation, and integrated financial planning on one platform

Anaplan for the Office of the CFO: Close, Consolidation and Integrated Financial Planning

Anaplan has spent the last two years building out the finance side of the platform. In May 2024 Anaplan acquired Fluence Technologies, a financial close, consolidation, and disclosure-management vendor, and in October 2024 it released the Integrated Financial Planning (IFP) application, which connects P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow planning in a single model. For the Office of the CFO that changes the conversation: Anaplan is no longer only the FP&A tool that sits beside the close process. It can now cover the close, consolidation, and planning loop end to end.

We help finance teams take advantage of that without turning it into a multi-year program.

Services

Integrated Financial Planning application deployment. Anaplan's IFP application is a packaged starting point, not a finished model. We deploy it against your chart of accounts, entity structure, and planning calendar, extend it with the drivers and allocations your business actually uses, and connect it to your existing workforce, revenue, and operational planning models so the three statements are driven, not typed.

Connecting close and consolidation to planning. Whether your close runs in Anaplan's consolidation capabilities or in another system, the output (consolidated actuals, eliminations, adjustments, FX) needs to reach the planning models quickly and without rekeying. We build the integration, using Anaplan Data Orchestrator or CloudWorks, with reconciliation controls so that what planners see matches what the controller signed off.

Chart of accounts and hierarchy governance. The most common failure in connected finance is three versions of the same hierarchy: one in the GL, one in consolidation, one in planning. We design a single governed account and entity master, decide where it lives (ERP, a data warehouse, or Anaplan Data Orchestrator), and build the change process so that a new cost center shows up once and flows everywhere.

Rolling forecasts and scenario planning. With the three statements connected, rolling forecasts and scenario comparison become practical. We build driver-based scenario modeling with Anaplan versions and, where the history supports it, bring in Anaplan Forecaster for the baseline.

Workflow and control. Budget submissions, forecast sign-offs, and close task tracking run through Anaplan Workflow with clear ownership and audit trails. See our Workflow and Process Automation service.

A typical engagement

  1. Finance process assessment (2 weeks): current close-to-plan flow, systems inventory, hierarchy audit, gap list against IFP.
  2. Design: target model architecture, integration design, hierarchy governance model, security and Workflow design.
  3. Build: IFP deployment and extension, integrations, reconciliation controls, dashboards for the CFO, controllers, and business partners.
  4. Cutover and enablement: parallel cycle, finance user training, documentation, hypercare through the first close and forecast.
